Clinical Nurse - F Ward

About the role

The Clinical Nurse on the F Ward provides holistic, person‑centred nursing care to patients, families and the community. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the nurse coordinates assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care while acting as a patient advocate.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a clinical resource, supporting staff in assessing, planning, implementing and documenting nursing care.
• Ensure clear communication between families, health professionals and nursing management to resolve patient‑care issues.
• Assess, plan and deliver advanced nursing care in line with SOPs, nursing theory and medical direction.
• Initiate and lead emergency (RESUS) treatment across any hospital ward as required.
• Conduct patient and family interviews to gather background information and identify problems.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team rounds, develop nursing care plans and coordinate patient services.
• Prepare shift documentation reflecting patient status, staffing ratios and identified problems.
• Contribute to policy and procedure development, quality and risk management, and resource allocation.

Required profile

• Registered Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council.
• Thorough knowledge of general and specialised nursing theory and practice.
• Extensive understanding of modern nursing care principles and patient safety standards.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and act as a patient advocate.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with Netcare policies.

Required skills

• RESUS emergency response competence.
• Proficiency with electronic patient record systems, e‑scripts and clinical order platforms.
