Clinical Nurse – Anaesthetic (R/N)

About the role

The Clinical Nurse (R/N) – Anaesthetic Nurse provides holistic, person‑centred nursing care within Netcare Femina Hospital, working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a clinical resource, assisting staff in assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting nursing care.
• Maintain clear communication with families, health professionals and nursing management to advocate for optimal patient care.
• Initiate, direct and maintain emergency treatment (RESUS) across all hospital wards as required.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, develop individualized nursing care plans and coordinate patient services.
• Contribute to policy and procedure development, quality and risk management, and resource allocation.
• Facilitate education and training for nursing staff, students and patients, including emergency procedure reviews.

Required profile

• Registered Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council.
• Thorough knowledge of general and specialised nursing theory and practice.

Required skills

• Advanced nursing care in a specialised anaesthetic setting.
• Proficiency in emergency treatment (RESUS) and rapid patient assessment.
• Experience with electronic patient records, e‑scripts and clinical order systems.
