Clinical Facilitator – Pharmaceutical & Medical/Healthcare

About the role

The Clinical Facilitator will plan and deliver training and development interventions to ensure nursing staff maintain high competency levels. Working within the Critical Care team, the role focuses on bedside teaching, risk mitigation, and supporting evidence‑based practice across multiple specialties.

Key responsibilities

• Report to the Nursing Services Manager and coordinate theoretical and clinical teaching.
• Provide bedside instruction through demonstration, job‑shadowing, role‑modelling and mentoring.
• Integrate risk‑management practices to improve patient outcomes.
• Deliver both in‑service and formal clinical training programmes.
• Support staff participation in research and up‑skill them on equipment and consumable use according to manufacturer guidelines.
• Assess staff competence against group standards and protocols.
• Plan, prepare, implement and manage education for new and redeployed employees.
• Design and implement a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme.
• Facilitate staff and student achievement of specific learning objectives.

Required profile

• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered General Nurse or equivalent.
• Postgraduate diploma in Medical/Surgical Nursing (General) accredited by SANC.
• Minimum 5 years experience in a multi‑disciplinary Intensive Care Unit covering Cardio‑Thoracic, Neurosurgery, Vascular, General Surgery and Medical units.
• Postgraduate diploma in Nursing Education or equivalent.
• Assessorship certification.
• Working knowledge of Trauma, Midwifery and Paediatrics.
• Familiarity with the scope of practice for all nursing categories and SANC regulations.
• Previous experience as an educator, facilitator or mentor is advantageous.
• Valid driver’s licence, own transport and flexibility to work all shifts.
