Clinical Facilitator – General Wards

About the role

The Clinical Facilitator supports nursing staff across general wards by planning, delivering and evaluating training programmes that ensure high‑quality patient care. Working within a hospital environment, the role may be assigned to a specialist unit such as ICU or operate across multiple nursing units.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the competence of all nursing staff.
• Ensure correct application of nursing procedures, policies and relevant legislation.
• Identify training needs and design appropriate clinical training interventions.
• Promote a culture of continuous professional development and quality improvement.

Required profile

• Professional Nurse qualification.
• Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Education, or three years’ mentor experience plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing for specialist units.
• Certificate of competence in Generic Assessment (Assessor course) preferred.
• Minimum three years of hospital nursing experience and one year of mentor experience.

Required skills

• Knowledge of infection prevention and control.
• Computer literacy – MS Office suite.
• Understanding of nursing processes, procedures and clinical risk management.
