Cleaner – Provincial Office (Western Cape)

About the role

The Western Cape Provincial Office is seeking a reliable Cleaner to maintain high standards of hygiene across its premises. The role involves daily cleaning of offices, kitchens, meeting venues and common areas to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Clean kitchens on every floor daily using provided equipment.
• Identify and report health hazards to the Provincial Secretary.
• Mop, vacuum, sweep offices, passages, entrances and basements.
• Dust and maintain furniture in good condition.
• Clean glass doors, internal windows and empty dustbins.
• Keep toilets hygienic and stocked with necessary supplies.
• Prepare and tidy meeting venues before and after use, ensuring tables, chairs, cutlery and glassware are ready.
• Order meals, snacks and beverages from approved providers when required.
• Maintain cleaning materials and stock, keeping them safely stored and readily available.
• Follow daily, weekly and monthly cleaning plans and complete tasks assigned by the Provincial Secretariat.

Required profile

• Grade 8 qualification or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of related cleaning experience (advantageous).
• Knowledge of the trade‑union environment (advantageous).
