About the role
GIBB invites unemployed South African youth to join the Civil Engineering YES Programme 2026, a 12‑month fixed‑term placement within the Dams and Hydro delivery unit in Johannesburg. The programme aims to provide meaningful workplace experience, develop practical civil‑engineering skills and improve participants’ employability. Successful candidates will be based at GIBB’s Johannesburg offices.
Required profile
- Grade 12 or equivalent with Mathematics, Science and English.
- BTech or BSc in Civil Engineering.
- South African citizen born in South Africa.
- Age between 18 and 35 years.
- Currently unemployed.
- Available for a 12‑month fixed‑term contract.
- Has not participated in a previous YES Programme.
- Computer literate.
- Willing to learn new civil‑engineering skills.
- Responsible and honest.
