Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

About the role

We are partnering with Iziko Museums, a leading network of African museums, to find a visionary Chief Executive Officer. The CEO will steer the organisation towards sustainability, innovation and excellence, reporting directly to the Council.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and governance to achieve the organisation’s objectives and manage heritage resources.
• Develop and implement strategic plans, frameworks and processes that ensure good governance, risk management and compliance with relevant legislation.
• Drive organisational transformation, sustainability initiatives and financial accountability in line with the PFMA.
• Promote diversity, equity, inclusion and a high-performance culture across the institution.
• Represent Iziko in public engagements, stakeholder interfaces and statutory forums.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate qualification (Master’s or higher) in Public Administration, Business Administration, Arts & Culture Management, Heritage Management, Museum Studies or related fields.
• Minimum 15 years of senior leadership experience, including at least 10 years in executive management.
• Proven track record of leading complex, multidisciplinary organisations and reporting to a governing body.
• Demonstrated success in organisational transformation, change management and financial stewardship.
