Chief Director – Military Veterans Beneficiary Support Services

About the role

The Department of Military Veterans seeks a senior leader to manage and coordinate beneficiary support services for military veterans. This permanent position reports to the Director of Human Resource Management and is based in Pretoria. The role involves strategic oversight, policy implementation and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, coordinate and facilitate all military veterans’ beneficiary services.
• Develop, monitor and enforce the legislative framework governing beneficiary support.
• Oversee registration, eligibility verification and transition processes for veterans and dependents.
• Maintain and secure the veterans’ database and benefits information.
• Lead dispute resolution, reporting and performance monitoring of programmes.
• Manage resources, budgets and staff performance, ensuring compliance with PFMA and public service legislation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or NQF Level 7 qualification recognised by SAQA.
• Minimum five years senior management experience in the public service or a comparable environment.
• Strong knowledge of public service legislation, PFMA, strategic planning and policy development.
• Proven managerial and leadership capabilities with experience in complex portfolio management.
• High integrity, problem‑solving ability and experience in change and people management.

What we offer

• Annual salary of R1 127 334 (all‑inclusive) with a twelve‑month probation period.
