Candidate Architect – Data Centre (Junior)

About the role

The Candidate Architect will join AECOM’s Enterprise Capabilities team in South Africa, supporting data‑centre projects under the guidance of senior architects. This is an entry‑level position designed for architects with 1‑2 years of post‑qualification experience who are registered as Candidate Architects with SACAP.

Key responsibilities

• Develop architectural designs and BIM models for data‑centre facilities.
• Produce detailed drawings, specifications and construction documents in line with industry standards.
• Coordinate design efforts across architecture and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated delivery.
• Participate in design reviews, quality‑assurance checks and peer reviews.
• Liaise with project stakeholders, consultants and contractors to resolve design queries.
• Prepare presentation material and support client meetings under senior supervision.

Required profile

• 1‑2 years of experience as a Junior Architect.
• Master of Architecture (MArch) preferred.
• Registered with SACOP as a Candidate Architect.
• Willingness to work in a hybrid model (minimum three days on‑site).
