By-law Patroller (Municipal)

About the role

The municipality is seeking dedicated individuals to join the By‑law Patroller team. Patrollers support traders by ensuring compliance with municipal trading regulations and maintaining order in designated trading areas. The role offers on‑the‑job training and a 24‑month fixed‑term contract.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with traders to communicate issues affecting their businesses.
• Conduct routine inspections of trading sites.
• Monitor compliance with municipal policies and ensure order.
• Prepare reports on inspections conducted.
• Identify new trading sites for potential regulation.
• Perform ad‑hoc tasks as requested by management.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 10 qualification.
• Security‑related training or certificates (advantage).
• Peace officer training or certificate (advantage).
• Valid driver’s licence (advantage).
• Computer literate with MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of by‑law enforcement (advantage).
• No prior experience required; training will be provided.
