Buyer – Underbody Systems

About the role

The Underbody Systems Buyer will work closely with Ford’s supplier partners and internal cross‑functional teams to secure the supply of production parts. The role focuses on proactive risk identification, effective negotiation, and ensuring on‑time delivery at optimal cost and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor supplier launch capacity, readiness, and Q1 quality activities, including deviations, waivers, work plans and action plan implementation.
• Negotiate supplier commitments, production piece prices, engineering design changes, tooling costs and issue purchase orders, lump‑sum payments and tool orders.
• Process cost requests, capacity studies and support annual cost‑reduction negotiations (TVM) and benchmark efforts.
• Drive waste elimination through Lean Deployment, Total Cost Management and Quality Operating Systems.
• Champion supplier delivery, manage long‑lead funding needs and support the PSW process.
• Address currency impacts and manage distressed suppliers.

Required profile

• National Diploma or Degree in Purchasing, Engineering, Commerce or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in automotive purchasing.
• Valid driving licence.
