Buyer / Procurement Administrator – FMCG & Agricultural Products

About the role

Our client, a leading importer, exporter and distributor of FMCG and agricultural products across Africa, is seeking a proactive Buyer / Procurement Administrator. Based in Johannesburg (serving the Germiston area), you will be responsible for sourcing a wide range of products, managing supplier relationships and supporting the end‑to‑end procurement cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and source FMCG and agricultural products from local and international suppliers.
• Negotiate pricing and terms to achieve competitive cost structures.
• Prepare and process purchase orders and related procurement documentation.
• Coordinate import and export shipments, ensuring compliance with customs regulations.
• Monitor inventory levels, landed costs and product costing.
• Maintain supplier performance records and generate procurement reports.
• Support new product sourcing initiatives and brand development.
• Collaborate closely with Finance, Sales and Logistics teams.

Required profile

• 3–5+ years of experience in buying or procurement administration.
• Proven experience in FMCG and/or agricultural products (essential).
• Hands‑on experience with imports and exports and international supplier management.
• Strong knowledge of inventory control and product costing.
• Exposure to African markets; French language skills are a plus.

Required skills

• SAP (advantageous).
