Buyer – Non‑Perishable Foods & Groceries

About the role

The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing non‑perishable food items for our retail network. You will work closely with suppliers to ensure product availability, competitive pricing, and optimal stock levels across our stores in Rustenburg and Kuruman.

Key responsibilities

• Purchase non‑perishable foods in line with company policies and procedures.
• Set up and maintain a regular supplier call cycle, meeting suppliers daily as required.
• Develop and manage supplier relationships, trade plans, and sales growth initiatives.
• Conduct market price surveys, assist in price and deal negotiations, and monitor promotion grids and margin expectations.
• Create purchase orders, track order status, and ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
• Monitor stock metrics such as negative stock, ageing stock, over‑stock, and low stock levels to meet inventory objectives.
• Maximise working capital by leveraging supplier payment terms.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a buyer of non‑perishable foods/groceries in a wholesale or retail environment.
• Ability to work on‑site in Rustenburg or Kuruman.
• Demonstrated success in supplier relationship management and stock optimisation.

Required skills

• Experience with purchase order creation and supplier coordination.
• Knowledge of market price analysis and negotiation techniques.
