Buyer – Merchandise Division (Wearables, Networking & Storage)

About the role

As a Buyer you will support the growth of the Merchandise Division for Pepkor Lifestyle, focusing on the Wearables, Networking and Storage categories. You will be responsible for building balanced assortments and managing the product lifecycle from design to launch.

Key responsibilities

• Compile and present quarterly product statistics, range reviews and post‑season analysis to retail heads, using sales, customer and trend data.
• Manage the product process from design brief through development to live launch on the site.
• Develop exit strategies for discontinued ranges while protecting overall margin.
• Negotiate with suppliers to secure best price, value offers and exclusive stock in line with company strategy.
• Monitor critical path timelines, flag potential stock or delivery shortfalls, and produce weekly trade feedback reports.
• Collaborate with suppliers to ensure product quality meets division standards.
• Support Marketing and Operations teams to deliver a world‑class customer experience.
• Lead and mentor planners, fostering a results‑driven environment.
• Identify process improvements to maximise efficiency.

Required profile

• Matric (grade 12) and a relevant Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain, Marketing, BSc or BComm.
• 5–8 years’ retail buying experience, preferably in electronics, furniture or related sectors.
• Proven buying record with strong analytical and logical data interpretation skills.
• Deep understanding of retail mathematics and KPI monitoring.
• Ability to work proactively, collaborate across functions and maintain strong supplier relationships.
