Buyer – Lingerie & Sleepwear (Cape Town)

About the role

A leading fashion retailer based in Cape Town is looking for a commercially‑driven Buyer for its Lingerie & Sleepwear category. You will shape seasonal ranges, drive profitability and support the brand’s growth through data‑informed product decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the seasonal buying and range plan aligned with business objectives.
• Collaborate with Planning, Design and Sourcing to create product, fabric and trading strategies that meet commercial KPIs.
• Use trend research, customer insights and trade data to define product direction.
• Present seasonal plans, highlight must‑win categories and channel‑specific considerations.
• Lead range development workshops to ensure on‑brand, trend‑relevant assortments.
• Work with Design on styling, fabric, colour and price architecture.
• Coordinate product development with Sourcing, including costings, technical packs and supplier selection.
• Oversee sample approvals, product reviews and innovation opportunities with Technical Product Development.
• Align financials and assortment plans with Planning across grades and sales channels.
• Analyse market trends, competitor activity and customer feedback to identify differentiation opportunities.

Required profile

• Strong commercial acumen and analytical ability.
• Solid understanding of fashion retail, especially lingerie and sleepwear.
• Confidence to make data‑driven decisions in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent collaboration skills across design, sourcing and planning teams.
• Customer‑focused mindset with ability to translate insights into profitable ranges.
