Buyer – Automotive Manufacturing (Silverton, Pretoria East)

About the role

Our client, a well‑established engineering and automotive manufacturing company, is seeking a proactive Buyer to manage the procurement of raw materials, components and services. The role supports production schedules by ensuring timely and cost‑effective supply of goods.

Key responsibilities

• Manage procurement of raw materials, components, equipment and services.
• Source, evaluate and develop reliable local and international suppliers.
• Negotiate pricing, commercial terms and supplier agreements.
• Coordinate import and export activities, including freight quotations and logistics.
• Monitor supplier performance for quality, reliability and on‑time delivery.
• Review demand forecasts and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
• Control procurement costs while maintaining quality and supply continuity.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) with a Diploma in Purchasing, Procurement or Logistics.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in procurement, buying and inventory control within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience in import and export procurement.
• Strong knowledge of supply‑chain and purchasing principles.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Syspro or a similar ERP system.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent negotiation and supplier relationship management abilities.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and critical‑thinking capabilities.
