Buyer and Designer

About the role

We are looking for a dynamic Buyer and Designer to join our client’s team in Johannesburg. This hybrid position blends product sourcing, range development and hands‑on graphic design, supporting fast‑moving fashion accessories, gift items and beauty tools.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and source fashion accessories, gifts and beauty tools in line with seasonal trends and retailer strategies.
• Build and manage product ranges for different retail formats, handling pricing, MOQ negotiations and order timelines with overseas suppliers.
• Create accurate CAD drawings, mock‑ups and packaging artwork (hang tags, header cards, blister packs) adhering to brand guidelines.
• Design marketing visuals, lookbooks and internal presentations.
• Analyse local and international market trends, produce moodboards, colour palettes and present concepts to senior management.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience in retail buying or product development, preferably in fashion.
• Intermediate graphic design experience using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
• Strong commercial sense with the ability to translate trends into sellable product ideas.
• Experience working with Chinese suppliers and managing import timelines and costing.
• Excellent presentation, planning and communication skills.
