Business Unit Manager – IBM Brand (ICT Distribution)

About the role

We are seeking an accomplished sales executive to lead the IBM brand portfolio for a leading South African IT distributor. In this senior position you will own the vendor relationship, drive channel growth across enterprise, commercial and retail sectors, and manage a high‑performing team of product managers and business development specialists.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the executive liaison between IBM and internal sales divisions, overseeing budgeting, financial forecasting and division planning.
• Achieve annual gross‑profit targets while controlling aged stock and inventory turnover.
• Directly manage, mentor and develop the IBM brand team, handling performance management and coaching.
• Enable and grow business‑partner accounts, delivering technical and sales training to internal and external partners.
• Lead demand‑generation, strategic marketing and lead‑generation programmes, and conduct weekly pipeline reviews.
• Accompany partners on strategic executive client visits.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience with IBM solutions within ICT distribution or reseller channels.
• Proven track record in senior‑level vendor relationship management and revenue growth.
• Strong financial acumen in gross‑profit targeting, inventory management and division planning.
• Established network in retail, commercial and public‑sector distribution channels.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle for local/inter‑provincial travel.
