Business Improvement Engineer

About the role

Aspen Pharma Group is looking for a Business Improvement Engineer in Port Elizabeth to lead and support Business Improvement and Operational Excellence initiatives. The role delivers measurable improvements in safety, quality, service, cost and productivity while keeping processes and equipment safe, standardised and compliant.

Key responsibilities

• Set, publish and communicate departmental targets, measures and deadlines, and review technical plans to improve production and facility equipment.
• Manage continuous improvement, site loss elimination and lean improvement projects, providing technical support and specifications to operations.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve equipment, manufacturing process and facility issues, engaging operators to surface production problems.
• Standardise and improve processes to increase robustness and compliance, and reduce cost, lead time, inventory, downtime and waste.
• Evaluate, justify and qualify process and equipment changes through change control, ensuring risk assessments are completed before implementation.
• Develop and update process documentation, SOPs and training material on processes, equipment operation and operator safety.
• Implement and monitor corrective and preventive actions within target dates and design controls.
• Prepare technical reports and present process data, project progress and issues for review and decision-making.

Required profile

• BSc / BEng in Engineering.
• Over 5 years of relevant manufacturing experience; pharmaceutical / GMP environment advantageous.
• Project management experience.
• Lean Manufacturing experience.
• Business process optimisation experience.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is advantageous.
