Business Controller – Manufacturing

About the role

Our client based in Durban is seeking an experienced Business Controller to deliver accurate, timely, and insightful financial and commercial information that supports business performance, decision‑making and strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Support sales growth and margin improvement through RFQ/tender pricing, cost analysis, pricing decisions and investment recovery.
• Partner with sales, procurement and product management to optimise costs, pricing and profitability.
• Lead quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting, improving forecast accuracy and financial planning processes.
• Manage month‑end financial reporting, including income statements, working capital and detailed variance analysis.
• Analyse sales, contribution, overheads, pricing, volume and product/customer mix to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Support strategic planning and performance management, tracking business objectives, initiatives and KPIs.
• Assist with pricing strategy, margin management and investment controlling, including financial analysis and expenditure approvals.
• Support internal and external audits, ensuring accurate documentation, reconciliations and compliance with financial controls, governance and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Matric and a BCom degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
• 5+ years of experience in a similar Business Controller or finance role.
• Proficiency with PC systems, especially SAP and Microsoft Office.
• Strong administrative, planning and problem‑solving abilities with high attention to detail.
• Experience managing and developing others, able to work both independently and as a team player.
