Bridge Draftsman – Johannesburg

About the role

Our client, an engineering company, is looking for a skilled and detail‑oriented Bridge Draftsman to produce structural drawings for bridges, flyovers, culverts and related infrastructure in Johannesburg.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed structural drawings and layouts for bridges, flyovers, culverts and related infrastructure.
• Develop general arrangement drawings, reinforcement (rebar) detailing and section views according to design requirements.
• Collaborate with structural engineers and project managers to ensure accurate interpretation of design intent and compliance with codes such as AASHTO, Eurocodes or local standards.
• Update drawings based on design changes, maintain consistent naming and filing systems, and support quantity take‑offs and Bill of Quantities preparation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Drafting or a related field.
• Minimum three years’ experience in bridge or structural drafting.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D and 3D) and Civil 3D.
• Experience with Revit, MicroStation and Navisworks (optional but preferred).
• Familiarity with bridge elements such as piers, abutments, girders, bearings and decks.
