Branch Manager – Retail & Trade Yard (Somerset West, Cape Town)

About the role

The Branch Manager will lead the day‑to‑day operations of a busy retail and trade yard in Somerset West, Cape Town. You will be accountable for driving sales, managing a diverse team, and ensuring an outstanding customer experience for DIY enthusiasts and professional contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily branch operations, maintain cleanliness, and enforce health and safety protocols for heavy timber and outdoor products.
• Coordinate local logistics, including vehicle scheduling and customer deliveries.
• Lead, motivate and develop yard staff, sales consultants and drivers; manage rosters and conduct performance reviews.
• Achieve monthly and annual sales and profitability targets while building strong relationships with trade clients, contractors and landscapers.
• Manage stock levels, minimise shrinkage, conduct regular stock takes and ensure accurate product ordering.
• Handle daily cash, POS reconciliations and basic branch financial reporting.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in retail, wholesale or branch management, preferably in timber, hardware, building supplies or outdoor landscaping.
• Proven leadership ability with a track record of managing hands‑on operations and sales teams.
• High energy, physically resilient and strong problem‑solving skills.
• Valid driver’s licence.
