Branch Manager – Retail Branch

About the role

Sanlam Developing Markets is seeking an experienced Branch Manager to lead its Sammy Marks retail branch. You will be responsible for growing the customer base, driving revenue, and ensuring an optimal client experience through effective team leadership and strategic execution.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the retail branch strategy to increase sales and revenue.
• Guide, integrate and standardise activities of Sales Consultants in line with the branch strategy.
• Lead a service‑delivery culture that enhances client experience both inside and outside the branch.
• Oversee day‑to‑day branch operations, including compliance, quality and risk management.
• Manage people practices for direct reports in partnership with HR (talent, performance, development, grievances, leave, capacity).
• Plan and report monthly on sales and service activities, and engage key internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) with RE1 and RE5.
• 120 Wealth Management credits or tertiary qualification recognised by the FSCA.
• Minimum 5 years industry experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
• Service management, insurance sales, and credit/lending experience.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of sales tactics, stakeholder engagement and customer service.
• Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks and Sanlam insurance products.
• People‑management principles and business acumen.
• Computer literacy, data analytics and data visualisation.
• Project management and critical‑thinking/problem‑solving abilities.
