Bookkeeper – Dynamic Accounting Firm (Cape Town)

About the role

We are seeking a diligent Bookkeeper to join a well‑established accounting firm serving clients across Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. The role involves handling payroll, statutory submissions and a range of accounting tasks for multiple clients.

Key responsibilities

• Process monthly payroll for various clients and submit payrolls on time.
• Manage statutory submissions to SARS and the Department of Labour (IRP5, EMP501, EMP201, WCA, Ufiling, etc.).
• Respond to client queries and maintain strong client relationships.
• Handle monthly billing, work‑in‑progress write‑offs and accounting services.
• Process client data in Xero and DEXT, including sales invoices, creditors, bank reconciliations and payroll journals.
• Maintain fixed‑asset registers in Xero or Excel and process other journal entries.
• Perform VAT output and balance reconciliations, complete VAT 201 returns and follow up with SARS.
• Prepare management reports for clients.

Required profile

• Experience in payroll processing and statutory compliance (IRP5, EMP501, EMP201).
• Familiarity with South African tax and labour regulations.
• Ability to handle client communications and maintain professional relationships.
