Bill Auditor

About the role

The Bill Auditor will be based at Life Bedford Gardens Hospital and report to the Patient Services Manager. The role focuses on auditing patient documentation to manage financial and clinical risk, ensure billing accuracy, and support the organisation's strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct retrospective audits of patient files to verify completeness, coding accuracy, and compliance with billing standards.
• Identify deviations, recommend corrective actions, and monitor implementation.
• Maintain a comprehensive Bill Audit file with signed reports, edit accommodation reports, and related documentation.
• Analyse audit results, compile monthly audit reports, and present trends on rejections, short payments, and other financial indicators.
• Verify patient details, ID, medical aid information, ICD and CPT codes, carrier codes, and equipment charges against IMEDS records.
• Complete audit templates and toolkits for each file reviewed.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow audit checklists.
• Good analytical skills to interpret data trends and produce actionable recommendations.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining effective relationships with internal customers.
• Successful completion of the LHC coding course with a satisfactory pass rate.
