About the role

The company is a leading player in the South African agriculture sector, supplying both local and international markets. It seeks an experienced Chief Operating Officer to join the executive team based in the Northern Cape, driving performance, growth and innovation in a fast‑moving, high‑impact environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and inspire the senior management team, set operational strategies and ensure seamless execution of business objectives.
• Oversee daily operations, assets and warehouse processes while maintaining food‑safety and quality standards.
• Drive proactive problem‑solving, decision‑making and operational excellence.
• Manage personnel, team development, performance management and foster a responsible work culture.
• Direct logistics and supply‑chain activities to ensure efficiency and cost‑effectiveness.
• Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to optimise processes and equipment performance.
• Monitor financial performance, control costs and contribute to strategic planning, expansion and investment activities.
• Maintain strong relationships with key partners, suppliers and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of senior management experience in agriculture, food production or large‑scale industrial operations.
• Proven track record in strategic planning, financial management and risk oversight.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Agricultural or Civil Engineering, or a Business Engineering degree with a passion for agriculture.
• Strong technical aptitude and a genuine passion for the agricultural sector.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Afrikaans.
