Bar and Boutique Assistant

About the role

Join the new Tasting Room & Whisky Bar at Navigate World Whisky in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg. As a Bar and Boutique Assistant you will deliver a world‑class spirits experience to both newcomers and connoisseurs, supporting a high‑end retail environment with over 1,600 fine spirits.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain an inviting ambience that encourages repeat visits.
• Act as a Spirit Host, providing exceptional, courteous service to every guest.
• Share knowledge of spirits, ensuring beverage quality and adherence to preparation standards.
• Provide prompt beverage service while keeping the bar area clean and sanitary.
• Operate and maintain all bar equipment and utensils according to safety guidelines.
• Use the POS system to process transactions accurately, record tips, and manage cash.
• Account for all cash, charge, and complimentary sales, maintaining financial controls.
• Replenish stock, conduct monthly stocktakes, and report any equipment issues.
• Promote guest satisfaction and help build a community of spirit enthusiasts.
• Comply with the Liquor Act (No. 59 of 2003) and related regulations.

Required profile

• Passionate about hospitality with a strong customer‑service orientation.
• Well‑spoken and presentable with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Hard‑working, enthusiastic, and able to thrive in a fast‑paced bar environment.
• Experience serving alcoholic beverages.
