Bakery Accountant

About the role

Premier FMCG is seeking a dedicated Accountant to support its bakery division. The role is responsible for maintaining robust financial controls, accurate reporting, and cost management to ensure the bakery operations run efficiently and profitably.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain asset management processes to safeguard stock and prevent theft.
• Oversee procedures for the value chain, wages, debtors, and creditors to avoid misappropriation of funds.
• Prepare balance‑sheet reconciliations and ensure accurate financial recording and reporting.
• Provide cost‑management analysis, deviation reporting, and identify waste‑elimination opportunities.
• Develop and enforce company finance and administration policies.
• Manage risk, take corrective actions, and support audit activities.
• Prepare budgets, monitor variances, and produce financial forecasts and projections.
• Execute month‑end close activities up to trial balance and compile required reports on schedule.
• Support IT infrastructure and human‑resources functions related to finance.
• Evaluate capital projects and process capex requests.

Required profile

• Matric qualification.
• BCom Accounting degree (essential).
• CIMA qualification or completed SAIPA/SAICA articles.
• 2‑3 years of experience in a similar accounting role within FMCG.
• Supervisory experience of 2‑3 years.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and complex formulas.
