Automotive Maintenance Technician - Paint Shop

About the role

A Paint shop is looking for a highly experienced Mechanical Technician to join its maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a wide range of complex mechanical systems. The position is full time, based in Gqeberha, and pays commensurately with qualification and experience.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out world-class preventative maintenance on all Paint shop facilities
• Respond quickly to breakdowns and carry out corrective maintenance
• Monitor and adjust equipment for peak performance
• Carry out plant start-up and switch-off procedures
• Keep equipment and tools in line with OHS standards
• Record production stoppages and track equipment uptime
• Support engineering teams on new installations or upgrades
• Manage spare parts

Required profile

• Degree in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering, or a National Diploma (ND) with a trade as Fitter or Millwright
• At least 5 years of relevant experience after graduation in a large manufacturing environment
• Ability to diagnose, repair and maintain a wide variety of mechanical systems

Required skills

• Understanding and maintenance of complex mechanical systems
• Preventative maintenance
• Reading and interpreting technical documentation
• Understanding of PLC-controlled systems and operation of HMIs
• Use of tools and lifting tackle for large equipment
• Problem-solving and basic MS Office skills
