Automation Engineer

About the role

This position is based in South Africa and sits within a global technology environment focused on building, maintaining, and evolving enterprise‑scale automation systems. You will work closely with international teams to streamline infrastructure operations and improve system reliability using modern automation practices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement and maintain automation workflows and infrastructure solutions supporting enterprise systems.
• Manage lifecycle operations of automation components, ensuring stability, performance and scalability.
• Administer and optimise platforms such as VMware Aria and Ansible.
• Develop scripts using Python, PowerShell, Bash or JavaScript.
• Support Linux and Windows server environments, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and group policies.
• Collaborate with global teams, participate in change control processes and maintain proper documentation.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across cloud, on‑premise, storage and virtualization environments.
• Research and prototype new automation technologies for continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of automation engineering experience.
• Strong analytical mindset and problem‑solving ability.
• Excellent collaboration skills in global teams.
