Audit Inspector

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Audit Inspector to join a leading organisation dedicated to raising audit quality across the profession. This highly technical position focuses on reviewing complex external audit engagements and influencing quality standards at the highest level.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct risk‑based inspections of external audit engagements.
• Evaluate firms' quality management policies and procedures against applicable auditing and financial reporting standards.
• Prepare high‑quality technical reports and inspection findings.
• Engage directly with audit partners and firm leadership to discuss outcomes.
• Research complex auditing and financial reporting matters.
• Contribute to technical publications and audit quality initiatives.
• Stay abreast of developments in auditing, financial reporting and audit technology.

Required profile

• CA(SA) qualification (essential).
• Minimum 6 years post‑qualification experience in external audit.
• Strong private‑sector IFRS audit experience.
• Experience at Senior Manager level or above within an external audit firm.
• Outstanding technical knowledge of auditing and financial reporting standards.
• Genuine interest in audit quality and technical excellence.
• Excellent communication, analytical and stakeholder‑management skills.
