Audit and Tax Manager – Sunningdale, Cape Town

About the role

Our client is looking for an experienced Audit and Tax Manager to lead their audit, financial statements and tax teams in Sunningdale, Cape Town. The role involves overseeing engagements, ensuring compliance with South African regulations and delivering high‑quality client service.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, supervise and develop audit, annual financial statements and tax teams, allocate work and plan capacity against deadlines.
• Perform detailed file reviews, raise and resolve review points, and ensure files are archived within 60 days of the report date.
• Direct statutory audits and independent review engagements in line with ISA standards and the Companies Act.
• Oversee corporate, trust and individual tax compliance, including SARS submissions, VAT, payroll tax and public benefit organisation approvals.
• Maintain practice administration, monitor work‑in‑progress, report to the Practice Partner and support billing processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading audit and tax teams, conducting performance reviews and identifying skills gaps.
• Strong client‑facing abilities, able to own a portfolio and present findings to non‑financial stakeholders.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan capacity and manage multiple deadlines.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of International Standards on Auditing (ISA 315, ISA 320, ISA 330, ISA 230, ISA 260, ISA 265).
• Familiarity with ISQM 1 & ISQM 2 quality management standards and IRBA/SAICA codes of conduct.
• Expertise in South African tax legislation (Income Tax Act, VAT Act, SARS procedures) and IFRS/IFRS for SMEs reporting.
