Assistant Technical Manager

About the role

Reporting to the Technical Manager, the Assistant Technical Manager will lead the technical team in maintaining and improving the hospital’s building, plant and equipment. The role is responsible for ensuring assets remain in optimal condition while supporting quality, safety and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee management and maintenance of building, plant and equipment.
• Manage technical projects and mitigate operational risk within the hospital.
• Supervise on‑site contractors and suppliers.
• Drive quality management, continuous improvement and occupational health & safety in technical operations.
• Lead and develop the technical team and control the department budget.

Required profile

• NQF Level 6 Engineering qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (heavy current) with Thermodynamics and Electro‑Technology.
• Minimum 4 years post‑graduate engineering experience, including HVAC and auxiliary electrical power supplies.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable personal transport.
• Experience in facility management and project delivery is desirable.
