Assistant Store Manager – 40 hrs/week

About the role

JD Sports is looking for an Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager at the Eastgate Mall location. This full‑time role involves overseeing daily store operations, managing stock, and ensuring an excellent customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Store Manager with stock‑take and store administration.
• Monitor and analyse stock movement, implement risk‑management procedures to reduce shrinkage.
• Extract and analyse store reports on turnover and stock performance.
• Maintain filing systems and ensure compliance with administration, systems and reporting procedures.
• Control cash and transactional activities, following established processes.
• Uphold safety and security standards within the store.
• Process customer transactions using the POS system and identify customer needs through professional engagement.
• Promote loyalty programmes and take initiative to improve customer satisfaction.
• Follow visual merchandising guidelines and housekeeping procedures.
• Collaborate with the team to meet sales targets and store objectives.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification.
• Minimum of 3 years retail or administrative experience.
• Strong interest in current fashion trends and a passion for customer service.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, organisational and planning abilities.
• Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment, work independently and take initiative.
• High attention to detail and accountability.

Required skills

• Proficiency with POS (point‑of‑sale) retail systems.
• Computer literacy for administrative tasks.
