Assistant QA Supervisor

About the role

Our Client is looking for a dedicated and detail‑driven Assistant QA Supervisor to support their Food Safety and Quality Management Systems at their Johannesburg site. This role is central to ensuring compliance with FSSC 22000 standards and customer requirements, safeguarding product safety, legality, and quality across production, storage, and dispatch.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and continually improve the FSSC 22000 Food Safety Management System
• Conduct internal audits, support external audits, and drive corrective/preventive actions
• Oversee verification programs including calibration, environmental monitoring, allergen control, and cleaning validation
• Lead training initiatives to promote food safety and quality culture across all levels
• Manage documentation and record control systems to ensure compliance and traceability
• Support QA Analysts in product evaluations and ensure only conforming products are released
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and risk assessments (HACCP, VACCP, TACCP)

Required profile

• National Diploma or Degree in Food Science, Biotechnology, or related field
• 3‑5 years’ experience in food manufacturing with exposure to FSSC 22000 or equivalent GFSI systems
• Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, internal auditing, and regulatory compliance
• Proficiency in MS Office and document control systems
• Analytical and problem‑solving ability
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong communication and report‑writing skills
• Ability to lead, motivate, and collaborate across departments
