Assistant Manager PHC (PNB4) – HIV/AIDS & TB Programme

About the role

The Assistant Manager PHC (PNB4) will lead the district HIV/AIDS and TB (HAST) programme, providing strategic direction and technical support to health facilities. This senior nursing role combines clinical expertise with management responsibilities to improve patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic plans for HIV/AIDS and TB (HAST) programmes across the district.
• Provide technical and clinical support to health‑care facilities and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Lead and manage the multidisciplinary HAST team, ensuring effective collaboration.
• Conduct clinic and hospital visits, audits, and quality assessments to ensure programme compliance.
• Analyse programme data, manage finances, and report on performance indicators.
• Organise health and wellness events aimed at behavioural change and patient retention.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in nursing with registration as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Post‑basic nursing qualification (minimum 1 year) accredited by SANC.
• At least 10 years of nursing experience, including 6 years after the post‑basic qualification and 3 years in a management role.
• Valid driver’s licence and computer literacy.

Required skills

• Training in HIV/AIDS management (NIMART) and extensive experience with the HAST programme.
• Data analysis and quality assessment capabilities.
• Financial management for programme budgeting.
• Computer literacy for reporting and data management.
• Strong leadership and team‑building abilities.
