Assistant Management & Financial Accountant

About the role

This position supports the Channel Finance sector of Old Mutual, handling accounting records, financial analysis and management reporting. The role requires both independent work and collaboration within a team to ensure accurate financial control and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accounting records and process journal entries.
• Prepare and submit VAT and income tax returns in line with South African tax regulations.
• Manage invoicing, settlements, and cash‑flow reporting for the Channel Finance sector.
• Perform month‑end reporting, balance‑sheet reconciliations and prepare quarterly review packs.
• Support audit and corporate governance activities, providing evidence and liaising with auditors.

Required profile

• Degree in accounting, finance or related field (NQF Level 7 or equivalent).
• Professional certification such as SAIPA or equivalent.
• Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail and ability to work independently or within a team.

Required skills

• Oracle Financials (essential).
• Intermediate to advanced MS Excel.
• Working knowledge of tax returns (VAT, income tax).
• Familiarity with HFM.
• Understanding of current IFRS accounting standards.
