Assistant Maintenance Manager – Cape Town

About the role

Our client, a 4‑star hotel, is looking for an Assistant Maintenance Manager to support the planning, execution and oversight of all maintenance activities. The role is based in Cape Town and requires a technically skilled professional who can ensure high standards of service, safety and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Maintenance Manager in developing and implementing the annual maintenance plan.
• Manage scheduled maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with regulations and timely service to internal and external clients.
• Conduct regular inspections to evaluate work quality and identify improvement opportunities.
• Maintain accurate stock levels and control inventory effectively.
• Monitor emerging sustainable‑energy technologies and advise on implementation.
• Enforce health, safety and environmental policies throughout the property.
• Lead, motivate and develop a competent maintenance team.
• Collaborate independently or with others to deliver consistent, high‑quality standards.

Required profile

• Matric (NTC 3) with a focus on electrical, plumbing or carpentry.
• Strong numeracy and communication skills in English (NQF 4).
• Minimum five years of maintenance experience in a comparable hospitality environment.
• Residency in Cape Town or surrounding areas.
