Assistant Front Office Manager – Hotel Front Desk

About the role

The Assistant Front Office Manager supports the Front Office Manager in overseeing all front‑desk operations at the Johannesburg Marriott Hotel Melrose Arch. This role ensures smooth check‑in and check‑out processes, high guest satisfaction, and optimal departmental performance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in supervising Bell/Door staff, switchboard operators and Guest Services/Front Desk team members.
• Manage day‑to‑day front office activities, ensuring standards of service and operational efficiency.
• Handle guest complaints, resolve disputes and implement corrective actions based on feedback.
• Monitor and support progress toward front‑office goals, collaborating with the Front Office Manager on continuous improvement initiatives.
• Recognise and motivate staff, maintain open communication and ensure coverage during absences.
• Participate in the development of service improvement plans and review guest satisfaction results.

Required profile

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead and influence a team.
• Demonstrated integrity, honesty and a customer‑focused mindset.
• Experience in hospitality front‑office operations or a similar guest‑service environment.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work and meet service standards.
