Assistant Financial Manager

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Chartered Accountant (CA SA) to join MSC’s finance team in Durban as an Assistant Financial Manager. The role offers hands‑on experience in financial reporting, budgeting and system projects, with mentorship from senior leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management activities.
• Provide financial analysis to aid decision‑making across departments.
• Participate in ERP and system improvement initiatives.
• Help the Financial Manager oversee accounting functions and ensure compliance with IFRS, tax regulations and statutory requirements.
• Work with auditors during annual audits and prepare audit documentation.
• Review accounting reconciliations and payments, and contribute to internal control development.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant (CA SA) qualification.
• At least 1 year post‑articles experience, preferably with a Big Four or reputable mid‑tier audit firm.
• Strong academic background in accounting or finance.
• Exposure to IFRS, tax and audit processes.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with ERP systems, SAP considered a plus.
