Assistant Branch Manager – Paint Retail

About the role

The company is seeking an Assistant Branch Manager to support the efficient operation of its paint retail branch. Reporting to the Branch Manager and the Sales/Operations Director, the role involves overseeing daily activities, staff coordination and driving sales performance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day branch operations, including stock control and cash handling.
• Supervise, motivate and train staff, conduct performance reviews and address disciplinary matters.
• Support the sales team by preparing quotes, opening New Home Improver cards and achieving gross profit targets.
• Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and report any incidents.
• Handle administration tasks such as invoicing, customer account tracking and order processing.
• Conduct inventory checks, manage stock replenishment and maintain accurate pricing.

Required profile

• Minimum Matric certificate; 3‑4 years experience in paint retail.
• Strong communication, organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Knowledge of paint products, applications and market conditions.
• Valid, unendorsed driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of the Omni retail system.
• Proficiency in paint and paint‑application techniques.
• Valid driver’s licence for operational duties.
