About the role
The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF), in partnership with the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, is hiring recent South African graduates and unemployed youth (35 years or younger) to support the PESP7 digitisation project for the National Archives and Records Services of South Africa (NARSSA) across all nine provinces and the National Archives in Pretoria.
Key responsibilities
- Digitise archival records and manage digital archiving workflows.
- Arrange, appraise and preserve archival collections, including strong‑room and reading‑room duties.
- Provide client services and capacity‑building support to provincial archive sites.
- Conduct oral‑history recordings and edit audio‑visual material.
Required profile
- Four‑year diploma or three‑year degree in archival studies, information science, film studies, sound engineering or a related field.
- South African citizenship, age 35 or younger, and currently unemployed or a recent graduate.
- Certified copies of ID, driver’s licence (where applicable), qualifications and a CV.
Required skills
- Digitisation of archival records.
- Records management and digital archiving.
- Oral‑history recording and audio‑visual editing.
- Archival appraisal and preservation techniques.
