Asset Controller

About the role

Mercuria, a leading integrated energy and commodity trading company, is looking for an Asset Controller to join its Controlling team in South Africa. The role focuses on managing financial reporting for investee entities, supporting business planning and forecasting, and providing commercial insight to the investing and trading teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the financial reporting process, including preparing templates, managing deadlines, reviewing local reports, and delivering final statements to management.
• Provide hands‑on assistance to local JV teams to ensure high‑quality, timely reporting and control.
• Deeply understand JV operations to extract critical commercial information for Mercuria’s investing and trading activities.
• Prepare consolidated financial statements and ad‑hoc consolidations.
• Coordinate with treasury, middle office, and financial reporting departments to reconcile key financial data.
• Manage auditors and resolve audit issues.

Required profile

• Strong analytical, accounting and consolidation expertise.
• Experience in financial reporting for joint‑venture entities.
• Ability to work closely with investing, trading and internal finance teams.
• Proven track record of meeting reporting deadlines and delivering accurate information.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across functions.
