Artisan Refrigeration Technician

About the role

The Artisan Refrigeration Technician ensures that all refrigeration equipment, plant, and building services at Mediclinic Legae remain functional, safe and cost‑effective. The role involves maintaining systems to their original state while adhering to Mediclinic standards and safety regulations. This on‑site position supports the hospital’s technical operations within the locality.

Key responsibilities

• Perform technical jobs within the locality.
• Carry out administrative duties related to the technical function.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks in the area.
• Coordinate work performed by on‑site contractors.
• Maintain client and stakeholder relations for technical services.

Required profile

• Hold a trade test certificate, a valid driver’s licence and SAQCC‑Gas registration (where applicable).
• Possess more than 8 years of multi‑skilled artisan experience (fitter, turner, millwright, air‑conditioning) with at least 3 years of experience at Mediclinic.

Required skills

• Trade‑specific skills and knowledge relevant to refrigeration and air‑conditioning.
• Fault finding and troubleshooting of mechanical and cooling systems.
• Planned maintenance execution according to Mediclinic standards.
• Knowledge of Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (OHS) and ISO requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work as a multi‑skilled technician in a hospital environment.
• Mentoring and coaching of junior technical team members.
