About the role
The Artisan Engineering Aid will support the maintenance team at Lion Smelter, ensuring equipment, machinery and plant remain operational in a heavy‑industry environment. This onsite position offers hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced smelting operation.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of equipment, machinery and plant to maximise availability.
- Provide support during breakdowns and emergency repairs.
- Contribute to the implementation of process and equipment improvements.
- Follow Lion Smelter policies, procedures and HSEC (Health, Safety, Environment, and Community) standards.
- Work overtime when required to meet production targets.
Required profile
- Grade 12 qualification.
- Full N2 with relevant trade theory in a Mechanical field.
- Engineering Aid Certificate.
- Experience in an engineering role within a heavy‑industry setting.
- Good communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Initiative and knowledge of HSEC systems.
