Artisan Electrician – Municipal Infrastructure Services

About the role

The Municipality is seeking an Artisan Electrician to join the Electro‑Technical Services – Low Voltage division. The role involves coordinating and controlling medium/low voltage electrical construction, installation and maintenance activities while ensuring productivity and compliance with departmental objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise the set‑up, progress and completion of medium/low voltage electrical networks.
• Complete internal transactional documentation such as time‑sheets, log‑books and progress reports.
• Operate heavy and specialised vehicles (e.g., crane trucks) during construction and installation tasks.
• Troubleshoot, fault‑find and repair medium/low voltage reticulation systems.
• Allocate tasks, monitor personnel performance and ensure occupational health and safety standards are met.

Required profile

• Grade 12 with N3 in Electrical Engineering and a Trade Test Electrical (red seal) qualification.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience.
• Valid Code EC1 driver’s licence.
• Additional advantage: 2 years experience in a municipal environment, Installation Electrician/Electrical Wiremen’s licence, experience with MV networks.

Required skills

• N3 Electrical Engineering qualification.
• Trade Test Electrical (red seal).
• Installation Electrician/Electrical Wiremen’s licence.
• Operation of heavy/specialised vehicles such as crane trucks.
• Experience with medium/low voltage electrical networks and fault‑finding.

What we offer

• Salary range: R23,167.20 – R30,072.67 per month (equivalent to R278,006.41 – R360,872.08 per annum).
