Area Manager – Retail Stores (Gauteng)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Area Manager to lead our portfolio of retail stores in Gauteng. The role involves overseeing all operational aspects, driving sales performance, and ensuring a world‑class customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership and develop high‑performing store teams.
• Drive sales targets and business growth through effective rostering, labor and shrinkage management.
• Control operating expenses and identify cost‑improvement opportunities.
• Assess training needs, deliver training plans and oversee store‑team development.
• Manage people performance, succession planning and recruitment in line with labour law.
• Conduct regular on‑site visits, internal audits and produce action‑plan reports.
• Design and monitor incentive programmes and analyse daily sales versus forecasts.
• Oversee inventory control, minimise stock wastage and report discrepancies.
• Ensure compliance with OHASA health and safety standards across all stores.

Required profile

• Proven experience in retail operations and multi‑store management.
• Strong leadership, people‑management and coaching abilities.
• Ability to manage budgets, OPEX and achieve profitability.
• Knowledge of South African labour law and health‑and‑safety regulations.
• Analytical mindset for sales, inventory and performance reporting.
