Android Payments Engineer (POS)

About the role

We are looking for an Android Payments Engineer to design and maintain high‑throughput payment applications on Android‑based point‑of‑sale devices. The role sits within a Payments Technology team and focuses on secure card‑present transactions and terminal integration.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain native Android applications for POS devices.
• Integrate and support hardware components such as card readers, NFC modules and PIN pads.
• Implement EMV‑compliant transaction flows for contact and contactless payments.
• Work with ISO 8583 messaging for financial transaction processing.
• Ensure robust, secure and performant payment application behaviour.
• Collaborate with backend, infrastructure and product teams.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across embedded hardware/software environments.
• Participate in code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong proficiency in native Android development using Java and/or Kotlin.
• Proven experience with EMV protocols (contact and/or contactless).
• Solid understanding of ISO 8583 financial messaging standards.
• Hands‑on experience integrating Android apps with hardware peripherals (card readers, NFC, PIN pads).
• Experience using AIDL / IPC mechanisms for hardware communication.
• Background in payments, fintech or financial services environments.
