Advisory Paraplanner

About the role

Old Mutual is hiring an Advisory Paraplanner in its South African financial services business. A paraplanner supports financial planners and advisors by handling the technical, research and administrative work behind financial planning, so that advice is accurate, compliant and well documented. The role is mostly not client facing.

Key responsibilities

• Data collection and analysis: collate and analyse data using preset tools, methods and formats, working independently.
• Information and business advice: resolve queries from internal or external customers or suppliers about complex processes and policies, referring issues to others where interpretation of policy is needed.
• Document preparation: prepare moderately complex documents with standard office software and gather and summarise data for reports.
• Insights and reporting: extract and combine data to generate standard reports.
• Customer relationship management: make calls to allocated customers to maintain relationships, and act as first point of contact for customer queries and complaints.
• Financial advice: conduct comprehensive financial planning and advice for more complex client situations.
• Sales: deliver mostly routine sales support services.
• Compliance: understand organisational policies, procedures and regulatory codes, and obtain supervisor authorisation for exceptions to mandatory procedures.
• Personal capability building: take part in assessment and development planning, training and coaching, and keep up with technology, regulation and industry best practice.

Required profile

• NQF Level 4, Grade 12, school leaving certificate, national or occupational certificate or equivalent (required).
• Appointments are made from the designated group in line with the Employment Equity Plan of Old Mutual South Africa and the business unit.
