Advertising Account Manager, Mandarin & English (Cross-Border)

About the role

Join Takealot Group’s Advertising team in Cape Town as an Advertising Account Manager focused on Mandarin‑ and English‑speaking cross‑border sellers. You will act as the primary liaison between our retail media platform and international marketplace sellers, helping them maximise revenue through Takealot’s self‑service Sponsored Advertising solution.

Key responsibilities

• Achieve and exceed advertising sales targets by identifying upsell opportunities across international seller accounts.
• Onboard Mandarin‑speaking sellers onto the Sponsored Advertising platform, delivering training and hands‑on support in Mandarin.
• Manage a portfolio of international sellers, building long‑term partnerships and increasing their advertising spend.
• Develop customised media plans aligned with sellers’ business goals, seasonal peaks and product launches.
• Monitor campaign performance against KPIs (ROAS, CTR, conversion rate, spend pacing) and provide optimisation recommendations.
• Coordinate creative asset collection, campaign scheduling and collaboration with retail marketing managers.
• Oversee billing, invoice reconciliation and ensure accurate monthly invoicing for managed‑service campaigns.

Required profile

• Fluent in both Mandarin and English.
• Strong commercial mindset with proven experience in advertising sales or e‑commerce account management.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with international sellers.
• Ability to analyse performance data and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
• Detail‑oriented, organised and able to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously.
